What are the pillars of your fatherhood?

A while ago my family biked to the library and spent some time reading about the history of Davidson and the men and women who built this Town. They got a "walking cone" as we like to call it from Ben & Jerry's and walked over to see our old family friend who has been operating a local business in Town for over forty years.

I started reflecting on these people who are historical pillars of the community who gave so much of their time to build and strengthen the Town we love. I began to ask myself:

Who are the pillars of the community now? What are the pillars in my life? And even deeper: What are the pillars of my fatherhood?

I sent a message out to 108 fathers who I consider friends across a variety of my networks and the answers were beautiful in the best way possible. It became clear to me a new initiative of Eyes Up needed to be launched and it is going to be centered on supporting fathers and expanding our resources to support more families with young people with my youth curriculums.

Any change we are hoping to make in the lives of young people has to be in partnership with the most influential male in their lives, their dad.
